EZLegalFile - Help with Forms
[Esta página está en español; Trang này bằng tiếng Việt]

EZLegalFile is an interactive program that can help you fill out the certain types of legal forms, such as to start a case or respond to papers you may have received. This free service helps you fill out court forms quickly and accurately. The types of forms it can help with are listed below.

The EZLegalFile application will ask you questions, and your answers will be used to fill out the necessary legal forms. You can then print the forms, and mail or take them to the courthouse.

NOTE: This service will help you complete your forms, but you still need to file them with the court. This is not online filing.

EZLegalFile is run by the Superior Court in San Mateo County, but can freely be used by people in other counties, including Santa Clara County. All the information about Santa Clara courthouses is built into the application.

EZLegalFile can help you with forms for:

  • Family Law
  • Small Claims
  • Unlawful Detainer (Evictions)
  • Domestic Violence
  • Guardianships
You can create an account there, but do not have to. If do you create an account, you can stop in the middle of filing out the form and then go back later without losing your information. The steps to complete your form or forms are:
  1. Gather information about the case or incident, such as names, dates, and previous case numbers
  2. Click on the link below to go to the EZ Legal File website
  3. Follow the instructions there and answer the questions
  4. Print the forms and file them at the courthouse (there may be filing fees)
