Feedback | Contact Criminal FAQ Answer to: How often are criminal records updated on microfiche? There are two different types of microfiche for criminal records -- "year -to-date" and five-year-to-date." Limited jurisdiction (i.e., misdemeanors) updates the "year-to-date" microfiche on a weekly basis. Limited jurisdiction also has the five-year-to-date which is updated quarterly. General jurisdiction (i.e., felonies) has the "five-year-to-date" microfiche only and updates are processed weekly. If the case was filed in the last five years, you can search the criminal index online, which is updated quarterly. You can search for a case number using either the defendant’s name and date of birth, or the defendant's name plus the month and year the case was filed. ← Click to go BACK to the Criminal FAQ page
